In pool play, the Pride started off by losing to the Inferno 4-3. This was Pride’s first game of the season and the new team played very well with Kelly Hillman starting on the mound. In the team’s second pool play game, the Pride beat the Gilroy Stanford-Cardinal 6-5. The Pride jumped out fast with Stephanie Doting, Holly Turay and Osuna scoring in the first inning. The Pride’s defense was strong led by the pitching of Sarah Cornaggia in the back-and-forth battle. Turay delivered the game winning hit in the final inning. In its final pool play game, the Pride smoked the Gilroy Chaos 9-0 led by Danielle Clampett on the mound. The win seeded Pride second place in pool play.

In Sunday’s single-elimination play, the pride beat the Chaos 5-1 with Hillman was on mound.

In the championship game, a rematch against the Inferno, the Pride won a classic finale with great pitching and outstanding defensive plays on both sides.

In the seventh inning, the Inferno got a runner over to second base and scored the tying run with a line drive just fair on the right field line and put the game into extra innings. But the Pride ended up winning with three runs in the ninth inning.
