“My Favorite Family Activity” was the theme for the poster drawing contest sponsored by the Morgan Hill National Family Week committee. All school children ages Kindergerten through eighth grade in the Morgan Hill Unified School District were invited to participate. The winning entries will be on display at the Morgan Hill Community Center through Nov. 30. The public is invited to see the children’s drawings. Students who received first, second and third place awards are:

Kindergarten – Kellie Grover, Caitlin Skurla, Geraldine Balcita.

First grade: Kate Picone, Omar Insignares, Madison Gong.

Second grade: Anuva Mittal, Matthew Navas, Alia Insignares.

Third grade: Doreen Kang, Rose Rastbaf, Kaitlyn Lambardo.

Fourth and fifth grades: Mikey McKague, Eduardo Hernandez, Javoneh Safakish.

Sixth and seventh grades: Deana Bennett, Kelvin Vu, Jimmy Benoit.

Morgan Hill Mayor Dennis Kennedy signed a proclamation on National Family Week at last week’s City Council meeting declaring the week of Thanksgiving as National Family Week in Morgan Hill. Cities and communities across the country have been promoting and celebrating National Family Week since 1972.
