Despite winning just one of its three games at the West Zone tourney in Hawaii last weekend, the Morgan Hill Bronco all-star team can be assured of one thing — it’s just as good as the eventual champion.

After dropping its first two tourney games — 5-2 to Kauai on Friday and 9-2 to Seattle on Saturday — the local all-stars rebounded to whack host, and West Zone champ, Maui 6-2 on Sunday.

MH’s Nick Ramirez led the way on the mound for the local team.

“We played for pride,” Manager Ken Bradley said. “We gave them their only loss.”

While the MH Bronco all-stars are finished for the summer, Maui advances to the Bronco World Series at Monterey’s Jacks Park Aug. 4-10 or 11.
