Morgan Hill – A flurry of drug activity over the weekend kept Morgan Hill Police officers busy, in addition to their regular calls for service.

MHPD Sgt. Mark Brazeal said Monday that officers arrested four people over the weekend, all involved with methamphetamine.

“People don’t always realize how much of this kind of thing goes on,” Brazeal said.

On Friday, officers responded to a call from nearby residences about a suspicious vehicle parked at El Toro Elementary School on East Main Avenue. When officers arrived at approximately 10:30pm, they found Alyssa Carns, 35, of San Jose, allegedly injecting drugs into herself with a syringe. She was arrested without incident and taken to Santa Clara County Jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a syringe and suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Saturday afternoon, an officer making a traffic stop found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle Corey David, 30, of Morgan Hill was driving. David was taken to county jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Later that night, Brazeal said, an officer on patrol on Condit Road noticed someone sitting in a car in the parking lot of the Microtel Inn and Suites. Robin Hastie, 25, of San Martin was in the vehicle allegedly shooting up.

She was taken to county jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia and suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Because Hastie was on parole, officers went to her room, where they found John Hernandez, 23, of Gilroy. He was cited and released on charges of possession of paraphernalia and suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance. MHPD resources were stretched further Saturday night by two two other incidents.

A Morgan Hill woman came to the department to report her boyfriend bit her in the face during an argument they were having in a car. Her injury was serious, Brazeal said, and the boyfriend is “known, but at-large.” Police are continuing to investigate.

The other complication Saturday night came when five officers were needed to break up a fight involving a number of guests at a quinceñera at the Community Center. Brazeal said emergency medical treatment was not called for, and no arrests were made.
