Four Sobrato High School volleyball players were included among the All-Santa Teresa Division selections, with outside hitter Scott Mercado receiving the Junior of the Year award, and opposite hitter/setter Andre Vigano the Freshman of the Year honor.
Mercado and Vigano earned first-team all-league along with sophomore opposite hitter Drew Mammen. Outside hitter Logan Mosher was named to the second team.
Together they helped the seniorless Bulldogs (16-14, 9-3) tie for second place in the division behind Prospect and nearly earn their second Central Coast Section playoff berth in program history.
Vigano made an immediate impact this spring, totaling team highs in kills (167) and assists (202). He also had 39 aces and 20 total blocks.
Mammen, a 6-foot, 2-inch left-hander, followed a spectacular freshman season by leading the league in hitting percentage (43.3). He also scored 161 kills, 180 assists and 19 blocks. His 45 aces were a team best.
The 6-foot-1 Mercado moved from middle to outside hitter this year and became a key part of the Bulldogs’ attack with 118 kills. He also had 18 blocks and 16 aces.
Mosher, listed at 6-foot-3, finished with 69 kills, 40 blocks and 15 aces.
With their entire roster back, and Prospect moving up to the Mount Hamilton Division, the Bulldogs will be one of the favorites in the Santa Teresa Division next year.
