Two men stood on the front lawn of a central Gilroy home occupied by several children and adults and fired shotguns through the windows, police said.
At 10:12 p.m. Monday, the two men, wearing black clothing and covering their faces with black bandannas, approached the house on the 7200 block of Dowdy Street and shot into the homes, police said. There were several people inside the house at the time of the shooting, including an unspecified number of children, but no one was injured, police said.
The Gilroy Police Department is two blocks away, and police responded to a call regarding the apparently gang-related incident within a minute, police said. However, the men – whose race and further description police did not know – had already run off.
Police collected unspecified evidence at the scene, but did not have suspects in the crime, police said. Police did not specify why they thought the crime was gang-related.
Anyone with information about this incident can contact Gilroy Police at 846-0350 or leave an anonymous tip at (800) 782-7463.
