Morgan Hill – A man was seriously injured Saturday night during an armed robbery inside his motel room at the Microtel Motel on Condit Road, according to Morgan Hill police Sgt. David Swing.
Police aren’t releasing the name of the man, believed to be in his mid-40s and a Morgan Hill resident, because of the ongoing investigation.
The victim told police he knew one of his two assailants and has identified him. The Times does not name suspects or arrested persons until charges are filed.
According to the report, the assailant and his accomplice stole an undisclosed amount of cash and “personal items” from the victim.
Though he did say the victim received serious injuries in the robbery, Swing did not want to disclose the exact nature of the injuries until the investigation is completed. The man was treated at Valley Medical Center and later released, pending further evaluation.
Swing said the robbery was apparently not gang-related. He stressed the fact that the victim knew the suspect, and that the incident was not a random attack.
No further information about the incident will be released at this time, Swing said, because detectives are in the early stages of the investigation.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Morgan Hill police Det. Kevin Beilmann at (408) 779-7323 or to give an anonymous tip, call Crime Stoppers at (408) 947-STOP.
