Live Oak setter Jordan Burdick got lost on the way to the Acorn boys volleyball team’s Tri-County Athletic League match at Alisal on Tuesday, and ended up missing the first half of the first game.

But Burdick showed up in time to help lead his team to a 23-25, 25-11, 25-12, 25-23 victory over the Trojans.

Live Oak (7-0 in TCAL, 15-3 overall) got solid play from Royce Newcomb, who had 14 kills, Cameron Bassett, who had 11, and Chris Deem and Ryan Siebert, who both added seven.

LO boys tennis

Led by Nick Matusmoto at No. 1 singles, the Live Oak High boys tennis team won three of four singles matches en route to a 4-3 victory over North Salinas in a match postponed from earlier in the season.

Matsumoto beat Viking No. 1 Florian Balhorn in straight sets 6-0, 6-1, while No. 3 Erick Macias and No. 4 Ryan Alexander also won their singles matches for Live Oak. The team of Tad Christopher and Robbie Ferrando secured the Acorns’ lone doubles victory.

LO badminton

In a rematch between the only two TCAL badminton teams, Live Oak fell 8-7 to host Gilroy on Tuesday. The Acorns, led by No. 1 doubles players Vivian Lau and Roger Alcaraz, beat the Mustangs 8-7 earlier this season.
