Live Oak High senior Royce Newcomb has been named to the
All-Tri-County Athletic League boys volleyball first team for the
second straight season. According to LO coach Keith Tungate,
Newcomb was far and away the team
’s best all-around player, and even received consideration as
the TCAL’s MVP this season.

In addition, LO’s Justin Venneman and Mike Lucarelli earned all-league second team honors, while Acorns Josh Smith and Joel Siebert received honorable mention.
LO finished the season 12-12 overall and 6-6 in TCAL, good for fourth place behind league champion Monterey, and Hollister-San Benito and Gilroy. The Acorns missed the CCS playoffs for the first time in several years.
Acorn ruggers compete in NorCal all-star tilt
Six Live Oak High rugby players competed in the Nor Cal Under-19 All Star Competition at Sacramento State University on Saturday. Eduardo Arias, Oliver Garcia, Jimmy VanLandingham, Dustin Muhn and Colby Austin played for the Skyhawk Conference all-star team in the match. The Skyhawk all-stars dropped a 48-15 decision to the Sacramento Valley Conference all-stars despite a try by Arias, who served as captain of the Skyhawk all-star team.
