Live Oak’s Katie Obbema threw a no-hitter in Thursday’s 13-0 victory in five innings over host Alvarez.
The senior was one out away from a perfect game but walked the second-to-last batter. Obbema, now 2-1 this year, collected nine strikeouts. She also singled three times and reached base in all four plate appearances.
Obbema got help from her sister, Jenny, who snagged a line drive at first base and had two hits, including a double.
Elsa Monterrey hit a three-run homer and went 2 for 2 with five RBIs, and freshman Tiffany Moore doubled for the Acorns (4-2).
Live Oak hosts Presentation today and will welcome Mount Pleasant on Wednesday to open Mount Hamilton Division play.

The Sobrato boys stayed unbeaten with a 89-87 victory keyed by Patrick Read, who triumphed in the medley relay, 100 butterfly and 200- and 400-free relays. Connor Bleeg and Adam Jasper won three events for the Bulldogs (3-0).
Christiana Bridges swam in the medley relay and won the 500 and 50 free and the 400 relay for the Sobrato girls (2-1).
