Morgan Hill – Longtime sports enthusiast Marlon Harvick, 50, of Morgan Hill, died of complications with lymphoma on Sunday.
Harvick found out he had cancer only two months ago.
Born in Riverside, Calif., Harvick was raised in San Jose, and moved to Morgan Hill 21 years ago.
He and wife Michelle were married for 27 years, and were together for 32 years.
Harvick is survived by his wife, sons Shane and Scott, and daughters Danielle, Brooke, and Amber.
As a dedicated father and avid sports fan, Harvick was kind of a third coach, Danielle said.
“He was always involved with our sports, and he would always donate money to the booster club and sports teams,” she said.
His son Shane played baseball, his daughter Danielle played field hockey and soccer, and his two twin daughters Amber and Brooke played volleyball, all at Live Oak.
His son Scott, a senior at Sobrato, plays roller hockey.
Harvick coached PONY baseball when his son Shane played and he coached softball for Spirit of Morgan Hill, when his daughters played.
Harvick was an electrician for his family-owned and operated Harvick Electric, based out of Los Gatos.
“He was just such a funny guy he had a contagious laugh that everyone will remember,” Danielle said. “He was a hard working man who did all he could to make his kids happy.”
Funeral services are scheduled on Thursday at 4pm at West Hills Community Church, 16695 Dewitt Ave.
In lieu of flowers, family is asking friends to send donations to Team in Training Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
