Police also arrest his girlfriend and man who violated
restraining order
Morgan Hill – One of Morgan Hill’s “Most Wanted” was arrested Tuesday night, along with his girlfriend, and a suspect on probation was captured after breaking into the home of a former girlfriend.
According to Morgan Hill police Cmdr. David Swing, Jose Quiroz was arrested by Morgan Hill police officer Greg Dini after he was found in a stolen vehicle outside the Microtel Inn on Condit Road.
Quiroz, 41, of Morgan Hill had an outstanding $50,000 warrant for alleged possession of counterfeit $20 bills and auto theft.
Swing said Dini found Quiroz and his girlfriend, Janelle Enriquez, 25, of San Jose, when he responded to a call about an occupied suspicious vehicle outside the motel. Dini recognized the pair, Swing said, because he had been looking for them for so long.
The vehicle they were in was found to be stolen from San Jose, Swing said, and when officers searched their motel room, they found crystal methamphetamine in the room.
Quiroz and Enriquez, who also had an outstanding warrant, were booked into Santa Clara County Jail on the warrants, on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance, probation violation and alleged possession of methamphetamine, possession of stolen property and identity theft.
Quiroz has been wanted since he was arrested in August. He was allegedly found with fake money at the Economy Inn in Morgan Hill. MHPD officers also found a Ford Explorer, which had been stolen from Gilroy.
Last August, a Baskin-Robbins employee, Isabel Arevalo, who is in the MHPD’s Explorer program, recognized a counterfeit bill when it was passed to her by an alleged associate of Quiroz, Damian Winding. When Winding was apprehended, he had a hotel key in his pocket that led officers to two rooms at the Economy Inn, one of which was occupied by Quiroz. All three had been arrested in August, but were later released. Quiroz and his girlfriend were sought by police after being charged.
In a separate incident early Wednesday morning, Ruben Gonzalez, 30, of Morgan Hill, was booked into Santa Clara County Jail for violation of a restraining order, probation violation and alleged burglary.
Swing said Gonzalez was arrested after he allegedly broke into the residence of a former girlfriend. She arrived home with her current boyfriend and found Gonzalez there; he became angry that she was with her boyfriend, she told police, and he allegedly attacked the other man.
Gonzalez ran from the residence before police arrived, Swing said, but he was arrested at a gas station near his former girlfriend’s home.
