overall school.
Morgan Hill’s Leong’s Martial Arts Studio received a trophy for the best overall school during the Golden State Open Tae Kwon Do tournament at Sonoma State University recently.
The team, coached by Steve Azar, received 11 gold medals, three silver and two bronze.
In the black belt division, LMA head master Ron Leong took gold. Jomar Clemente, Mei-Lin Leong and Charlie Batch also took first place, while Mariel Clemente and Justin Silver took second.
In the red/black belt division, Filip Jose and Sandeep Parmar received gold medals. Tim Leong took a first, and Christina Parmar placed second in the red belt category.
In the blue belt division, Christel Jose received a first place. Joey Perry fought to a bronze medal in the green belt division.
In the orange belt class, Andrew Gomez and Jonathan Molina received gold medals, while Tyler Molina took home a bronze.
Josiah Alvira received a gold medal in yellow belt division.
LMA will compete in one more tae kwon do regional competition on March 1 at Aptos before going on to state finals and nationals.
