Live Oak High standouts Cobbie Jones and Jonathan Kamei are both on their way to the Junior Olympic Nationals in Eugene, Ore. after qualifying at a regional competition.

The Nationals will be held July 28-Aug. 1 at the University of Oregon’s Hayward Field.

Jones, who will be a junior at Live Oak this fall, took second place in the 800 at the Region 14 competition to qualify in that event.

A member of the Los Gatos Athletic Association running club, Jones will also compete in the 4X800 relay with three of her club teammates at the Junior Olympic Nationals.

Competing in cross-country and track, as well as soccer, for Live Oak last season, Jones advanced to the section and state finals in both sports.

She finished fourth in the state in the 800 last season.

Kamei, who also runs for the LGAA running club and will be a senior at Live Oak High in the fall, finished third in the 1,600 and will compete in that event at the Junior Olympic Nationals.

Kamei, who also competed in cross-coluntry and track for Live Oak, just missed advancing to CCS last season.
