With the weather warming up, the completion of STAR testing, and AP tests almost through, the students at Live Oak can definitely tell that the school year is quickly coming to an end. The antsy seniors can smell graduation just around the corner. Many have picked up their graduation announcements and are already sending them out to their friends and family. If you still need to pick yours up, you may do so in the ASB Office.

April 26 brought the first day of STAR Testing which continued through May 1. Freshmen, sophomores and juniors all sat through hours and hours of endless state testing and are glad to be done. Last Monday, many of the seniors, who are exempt from taking the STAR tests, anxiously filled up five buses and headed to Seacliff Beach where they spent hours playing, eating, swimming and tanning (or burning) in the sun. The weather could not have been more perfect! At school the following day, many seniors smelled of aloe and compared their bright red sunburns. A large number of students enrolled in AP courses have been busy studying and preparing for their Advanced Placement Tests (AP Tests) which took place from May 1-12.

Last Thursday, Mrs. Donna Foster’s fashion/design classes put on two sold-out fashion shows in the Little Theatre. The theme was “Urban Jungle.” Brilliant colors, upbeat music and creativity filled the theater as the fashion students strutted their stuff on stage dressed only in clothing they made. Also, 13 fashion students were awarded scholarships from this popular ROP Program.

Among the various fun-filled events planned for the seniors, there is one in particular that many seniors are looking forward to – the Senior Prom! It takes place this Saturday, 8-12pm, at the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey. This is one highly anticipated night that most seniors have been looking forward to for a long time. Also, at the dance, the Prom King and Queen will be announced. The finalists for King are: Andrew Cube, Steven Gunn, Nick Mott, Dustin Muhn and Thomas Watson. The finalists for Queen are: Ginelle Bongiorno, Katy Darcy, Amy Marshall, Erin Schlegel and Amy Yearton. Good luck to all! Class of ’06, there is the annual Disneyland trip coming up which is scheduled for June 14-15. The cost is $175 and you may buy your ticket in the ASB Office. The deadline for a guaranteed spot is June 2.

Hang in there Acorns! Although some of your brains might be fried from all of the testing we’ve had lately, you’re almost done! Only five more weeks left of school and then it’s summer vacation!
