Acorns defeat Vikings for first TCAL win this season; face the
Bulldogs on Thursday
Morgan Hill – The Tri-County Athletic League has traditionally been one of the toughest softball leagues in California. This year is no different, just ask defending TCAL and Central Coast Champions the Live Oak Acorns.

The Live Oak team, which retained all but one of its players from last season’s championship squad, has struggled early in TCAL action, falling to the Notre Dame Spirits, 9-5, and the Gilroy Mustangs, 4-3, in 11 innings.

On Thursday in Salinas, the Acorns (5-2-1, 1-2 TCAL) recorded their first TCAL victory of the season by defeating the North Salinas Vikings (4-5-1, 1-2 TCAL), 6-3.

Tricia Goularte pitched the complete game for Live Oak, allowing eight hits in seven innings.

Brittney Ondich launched Live Oak’s first homerun of the season, going 1-for-2, with one RBI and two walks. Kelly McDonald went 2-for-4 for the Acorns with a triple and two RBIs, and Sara Locarnini went 1-for-3 at the plate with a triple and two walks.

Alyssa Adamo drove in one run for Live Oak, going 1-for-3 and Amanda Rosevear also had a RBI and went 1-for-4 at the plate.

Locarnini leads the Acorns batters with 11 hits this season, including two triples. Taylor Sutton, April Herrera, McDonald and Locarnini have each had three multi-hit games for the Acorns this season.

Live Oak returns to the filed on Thursday, April 6 when they take on the Sobrato Bulldogs at home.
