MORGAN HILL
Four San Jose residents were arrested in Morgan Hill early Friday morning following a routine license plate stop that led officers to the discovery of drugs, fake IDs and two possible accomplices at a local hotel.
Morgan Hill police officer Jeff Brandon stopped a car driven by Don Saddoris, 33, at 1:51 a.m. when he noticed the vehicle was missing a front license plate.
Brandon was driving on Condit Road near the Golden Oak Restaurant at approximately 1:51 a.m. when he noticed the car and made a traffic stop.
Morgan Hill police Cmdr. David Swing said Saddoris and his passenger, Marlin Rouse, 40, appeared to be under the influence of methamphetamine, and Rouse had an outstanding warrant. Saddoris was on parole for methamphetamine-related offenses, and Rouse was on probation.
Both men were arrested, Swing said. Saddoris was cited and released, and Rouse was booked into Santa Clara County Jail.
The men told Brandon they were staying at the Quality Inn on Condit Road, and officers conducted a probation compliance check. When they arrived at room 124, they found John Suetos, 37, and Emily Wiggins, 19, along with a 1-year-old child in a crib in the bathroom. As they searched the room, they found methamphetamine in a nightstand drawer and a pipe used to smoke methamphetamine on the kitchen table.
Officers also saw numerous items for altering checks and making false IDs, Swing said. Apparently, the group was working the east side of Morgan Hill, stealing mail in an attempt to find checks they could alter and applications for credit cards they could submit.
Rouse, Suetos and Wiggins were booked into county jail on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance, alleged possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of forged driver’s license or identification, making items for the purpose of defrauding others.
Wiggins and Rouse both had outstanding warrants as well.
The child was released to the maternal grandmother.
