‘I Hate Hamlet’ Truly Enjoyable

Dear Editor,

Congratulations to the cast and crew of Laughter Productions for their current show, I Hate Hamlet! This is a truly enjoyable event spotlighting the talents of these local young adults. For the past three years, these high school and college students have presented shows for us at the Morgan Hill Playhouse, and they have yet to disappoint!

This play showcases the challenges met by actors involved in a Shakespeare Production, while entertaining us with humor. This genre certainly creates a show that is not “algebra on stage,” as one character puts it. The title of the play, I Hate Hamlet is enough to pique one’s curiosity, as most of us had the same opinion as high school English students.

The acting is wonderful, the stage beautiful, the show something not to be missed! It will be running throughout the month of August at the Morgan Hill Playhouse. Tickets may be purchased in advance at http://www.zaptix.com/group/laughterproductions/ihatehamlet.

Anti-Mosque Folks Getting Desperate

Dear Editor,

Since the anti-mosque folks are starting a misinformation campaign they must feel desperate in their position. Not only are they projecting unreal figures but also the questions they ask would result in outrage by them if those same inquiries were posed to them. If a Christian organization were considering the same project, would the paranoia be similar? Their tactics are aimed at creating fear, not passing along information.

  • Fuzzy math: 300 families do not equate to 10,000 to 15,000 people – 50 people per family? I think not. Four people per family equal 1,200 people.

  • The Facilities: The alleged “Proposed hospital, retirement quarters and other facilities” as suggested by our desperados don’t come close to meeting current county codes on the parcel. The actual proposal by the Muslim community comes much closer to reality.

  • The questions:

  1. Will background checks be performed on the imams? Imagine if someone asked this of the priests of a new cathedral or ministers of a new church. These very same desperados would claim foul all the way to the Supreme Court. Be careful of what you ask for, you might just get it.

  2. Will background checks be run on all the members of this community? Holy First Amendment rights!

  3. The question about this mosque’s finances supporting any terrorist organizations: what’s good for the goose is good for the gander. Let’s pose the same question to every religious organization in the country just because it is the right thing to do.

  4. Their position on the war on terror: I think you would be disappointed with the Muslim’s answer. These are peaceful people; many were born in the U.S., who are in the U.S. because they want what this country has offered to generations of immigrants – our way of life.

  • I’m relieved to have been informed that the Tom Campbell mentioned in the letter’s sign off is not the former congressman and Stanford professor.

I agree wholeheartedly with the concern that this project needs to be carefully considered but not for the reasons given. The environmental, traffic and infrastructure concerns need be addressed in greatest detail. This is a major undertaking for all concerned and will have lasting implications in the make up of South Santa Clara County.

What applies to this project needs to apply to all similar projects regardless of sectarian or partisan makeup.
