School District Thankful for Garbage Company

Dear Editor,

I want to thank South Valley Garbage and Recycling for working with the Morgan Hill Unified School District in cutting down the amount of garbage that goes to the landfills. The district recycles all white papers, cardboards, milk cartons, cell phones, ink cartridges, pizza boxes, cardboards lunch trades, batteries, beverage containers, computers, outdated books and yard waste. South Valley Garbage and Recycling has provided each classroom a plastic tooter to put all white papers in at no cost to the district.

I think it is commendable a company like South Valley Garbage and Recycling is willing to go the extra mile to help out the environment for further generations.

I also would like to mention there is no cost for any extra garbage that we need to take to the dump in San Martin.

Before the start of school each year and whenever we need additional sweeping of our playgrounds, parking lots, etc., South Valley Garbage and Recycling will come and sweep it at no cost to the district.

Once again It is a blessing that we have a company like South Valley Garbage and Recycling that is willing to work with the district.

Volunteers Made IDI’s July 4th Bash a Success

Dear Editor,

This is a letter of THANKS from the many volunteers of the Independence Day Inc.’s Fourth of July Parade.

Thanks to all the volunteers, participants, donors, sponsors and spectators of the parade and all the other IDI Independence Day celebrations this year.

We thank you for helping our community remember our heritage, celebrate, and think about our America, land of hope and freedom, this year’s parade theme.

There were 1,944 individual Participation Award Ribbons given to the children and adult participants of this 113th Morgan Hill Independence Day celebration parade. In addition there were 64 parade trophies and medals and $13,150 in cash awards announced and awarded to the amateur and professional entertainers in the 2007 parade awards ceremony at The Grange on the afternoon of the Fourth.

The funds to provide this great entertainment were all provided by you, the individual donors and business sponsors as you donated 50 cents to $5,000 to help pay for the parade. We thank you, each and every one for your donation. Without your donation, there would be no July 4th celebrations in Morgan Hill as they are not funded by any government organization.

If any of your friends haven’t yet sent in a donation, tell them that it’s not too late. There are still bills to pay and a check or a few dollars sent to P.O. Box 1776, Morgan Hill, will be well used and appreciated.

And, if you and your friends would like to join us as volunteers for July 4th, 2008, call 779-3387,

e-mail mh******@****ic.com , or check our Web site at www.mhparade.com

Neena’s Mosque

Dear Editor,

I have a 4-year-old friend who I will call Neena. She was born to Muslim parents and is a U.S. citizen. I hope that when she grows up and decides to choose a religious tradition that she will have the option of attending a mosque fairly close to her home. Amendment I of the U.S. Constitution states that the “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof … ” The spirit and letter of this portion of the constitution guarantees her right to exercise her religious freedom. It’s up to us to assure that she has that chance.
