Time for the Nation to set a new course for school districts
Dear Editor,

Not one dime is cut from education until California’s Public Schools rank first in the nation. Investment in our children will make California golden and strengthen America.

Thanks for generous donations
Dear Editor,
On Dec. 12, 2008 The Morgan Hill Police Officers Association and Morgan Hill Community Service Officers Association held their annual Christmas party and raffle fundraiser. Morgan Hill Police Department employees donated generously and won some fabulous raffle prizes in return, all the while earning funds for charity. About $1,600 in charitable proceeds was raised during our raffle.
The Morgan Hill Police Officers Association and Community Service Officers Association thank the following businesses and individuals for their generous donations: MH Police Officers Association, MH Community Service Officers Association, Majestic Beauty Supply, Marie Callender’s, Michael and Karen Ayers, MH Tobacco, Jamba Juice, Red Robin, Chili’s, Queen Bee Nails & Spa, Karma Boutique, Massage Envy, Starbucks, Men’s Warehouse, Peet’s Coffee, Target, Sunshine Bicycle, Sicilia In Bocca and Bruce Dudley.
Additionally, we would like to thank Morgan Hill Police Officer Association member Bill Norman, who bought and donated two bicycles to Community Solutions as part of the Give a Gift fundraiser. His donations intensified the impact of our raffle proceeds, a portion of which were used to purchase two additional bicycles, four bicycle helmets and four bicycle locks for a local family in need. They have a gravely ill mother who is having trouble taking care of her four children, which includes two teenagers and two elementary school children.
The remainder of the proceeds were used to give $500 worth of clothing related Christmas gifts to a local family of 10 who were experiencing difficult times and $500 was donated to Morgan Hill YMCA. We would like to extend a special thanks to the 2009 Morgan Hill Police Officer Association President Scott Silva and his wife Kim, for donating their time and effort to shop for gifts and ensure they were neatly wrapped.
We look forward to participating in additional fundraising efforts during 2009. Upcoming activities include Tip a Cop fundraisers to support the Special Olympics, the 2nd annual Battle of the Badges softball tournament and a fund-raising event with the Saint Baldrick’s foundation to support childhood cancer research.
