Many times when I stroll down the practice tee I see golfers just swinging away, hitting one ball after another with no intended target. That’s fine if you’re just burning calories, but it’s not an effective way to practice. That’s why you need to create a practice station. Using the alignment sticks, place one stick about a foot behind the ball pointed down the target line. Next, place a second stick for your feet a foot or so parallel to the target line stick. Then check behind to make sure that the sticks are aligned correctly. It should look like a set of railroad tracks pointed at the target with the outside stick on the target line and the inside stick for your toe’s parallel pointed slightly left of the target. Now you have a practice station, and you’re aimed correctly. This also will help train your eyes on how the target should look on the golf course.

The great teacher Harvey Penick once said, take dead aim.
