Twenty-one leaders-in-training have been named to the 2003 Class of Leadership Morgan Hill. Class members were competitively selected as having high promise for future community leadership and service.

“This is an excellent class that is serious about future and ongoing service to Morgan Hill,” said Sherry Hemingway, Leadership Morgan Hill chair.

The new members are Helen Barcellos, human resources manager of Go Kids; Rosy Bergin, owner of Rosy’s at the Beach; Karl Bjarke, city deputy public works director; Terrie Booten, acting police captain; Rosalinda Bush, community volunteer; Councilwoman Hedy Chang, owner of H.C. Properties; David Dworkin, general manager of Holiday Inn Express; Aida Fraser-Hammer, Live Oak assistant principal; Christopher Hauge, South Valley Christian Church student ministries pastor; Connie Iobst, Anritsu facilities supervisor; Nancy Kim, occupational health nurse, Abbott Labs; Kevin Lanning, chief financial officer, Techcon Landscaping Construction; Kay Lawless, Culinary Express owner; Robert Margevicius, Specialized Bicycle executive vice president; Mitch Mariani II, community volunteer; Diane Ochoa, medical group administer for Kaiser Permanente–Santa Teresa Medical Center; Keith Schwehr, accountant, Bianchi, Lorincz & Co.; Carol Spence Carr, owner, Carol Spence Interior Design; Marlon Spencer, production supervisor for Media Arts Group; Steven Stratton, field representative for Capital Planning Partners; and Irma Torrez, city clerk.

Class members will attend nine months of civic presentations and training intended to prepare them for future public service, or instill new insights into those already in leadership positions. The group recently participated in a two-day retreat which focused on leadership styles, diversity, and team dynamics. The retreat was sponsored through an educational grant from Long’s Drug Store.
