An early Wednesday morning raid of a rural property off Croy Road turned up close to 100 marijuana plants, illegal buildings and harmful toxins, according to the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office.
One adult male was arrested at the scene after a search warrant was served in an operation that included 40 officers from the sheriff’s office, state Department of Fish and Game, county planning, county code enforcement and county fire.
“This operation is the first operation this year with all of the county entities working together,” said Sgt. James Jensen of the sheriff’s office. “We are going to continue these type of operations throughout the summer and the growing period.”
The growing season is from May until harvest time in September and October.
The sheriff’s office did not release the identity of the man arrested because the investigation remains open, Jensen added.
The rural property off Croy Road, with Uvas Road being the nearest cross street, had been on law enforcement’s radar for about two years. Jensen did not reveal how long it was under surveillance, however.
Fire hazards and illegal grading that can cause flooding were also found on the property.
