Lauren Vu, 17, of Morgan Hill, was chosen recently as one of six Bay Area students to make up the WB20 Student Council for 2004-05.

Vu is a senior at Presentation High School in San Jose, is on the varsity soccer team and track team. She is also a member of the Youth Advisory Committee sponsored by the City of Morgan Hill.

WB20 Student Council begins its second year as a peer-to-peer community outreach platform for teens. The panel will consider issues and broadcast them and possible solutions to their peers through public service announcements, called “Think About It.”

The panel from 2003-04 produced PSAs on topics such as drugs, suicide, drinking and driving, violence, teen relationships and character. This year’s group will meet once a month to develop the topics and scripts – PSAs began airing in July.

The six students, from San Francisco, San Bruno, San Jose, Los Gatos, San Rafael and Danville were chosen through essays, interviews and screen tests.

WB20 is sponsored by cable Channel 13, KBWB television, the Bay Area affiliate of Warner Brothers television.
