Gilroy police nabbed three late-night classroom burglars in the middle of a break-in at El Roble Elementary School Thursday.

Gilroy PD arrested Juan Webster-Abina, 18, and two juveniles from Gilroy in the middle of the night as the trio were looting classrooms.

At approximately 2 a.m., Gilroy Police officers responded to an intruder alarm at the the school located at 930 Third St. in Gilroy.

On arrival at the school, the officers and the police dog, K-9 Pharaoh, located three suspects inside a classroom. According to Gilroy Police Sgt. Pedro Espinoza, Webster-Abina, 18, from Goleta, CA, and two males aged 16 and 17 from Gilroy were taken into custody without incident.

A further search of the school indicated that three classrooms had been ransacked and the suspects were preparing to remove property, said Sgt. Espinoza.

Sgt. Espinoza explained that the most valuable piece of property targeted was a stereo system. Other miscellaneous items were piled in each of the three rooms.

The three burglars had no vehicle with them and decided against a foot race with 2-year-old Pharaoh, said Sgt. Espinoza.

Pharaoh comes to Gilroy from the Czech Republic and has assisted in the apprehension of violent felons and armed gang members, relayed Sgt. Espinoza.
