Dear Editor,
On Sunday, Sept. 19, something happened to me that shows what truly good people we have in our community. I had finished my grocery shopping and could not find my car keys. I checked my locked car, retraced my steps in the market and emptied my purse – no keys. An employee let me use the phone to call home for another set.
As I was waiting near the parking lot, a smiling gentleman approached and asked, “Did you lose your keys?” He had found them (“in the grapes”), put them in his pocket, and gone through the check stand but forgotten to turn them in. When he got home and realized he still had them, he came all the way back to find me and return them. Since I was too rattled to get his name and only offered repeated thanks, I’d also like to thank him in print!
Just as he left, a good friend (you know who you are) drove in to rescue me. What kindness from friend and stranger alike! What good people.
