Lomanto rushes for two touchdowns as Morgan Hill beats Gilroy
21-0 Saturday
GILROY — The Morgan Hill Junior Pee Wee Raiders kicked off their season Satuday with a 21-0 triumph over the Gilroy Browns.

The Black and Silver dominated at Garcia-Elder Sports Complex, getting an early lift with Paul Lomanto’s touchdown run and Devon Buenrostros’ 2-point conversion kick in the first quarter. Justin Sanders ran the ball twice to set up the score, and quarterback Miles Kendrick connected with Jason Gomez for a 12-yard gain.

Morgan Hill’s defense went to work in the second quarter. D.J. Washington and Buenrostro combined for one tackle, and Jared Lunar made another as the Raiders denied Gilroy a touchdown deep in Morgan Hill territory.

Still leading 8-0, the Raiders carried their dominance into the second half with Morgan Hill’s front five leading the way. They opened up running lanes for Sanders, who scored the second touchdown to make it 14-0.

The Browns tried to respond, but Morgan Hill defenders Wyatt Gold and Nathan Comacho helped hold them back. Lomanto scored a second rushing touchdown in the closing minutes, and, after a penalty allowed the Raiders a second conversion try, Kendrick scored on a fake extra-point run.
