Morgan Hill Independence Day, Inc. (IDI), the all-volunteer group responsible for producing Morgan Hill’s enduring and famed Fourth of July celebration, has new officers.
Daryl Manning was named as president and Jeff Roth, vice-president both for three-year terms beginning immediately. Marie Haluza and Brigitte Heiser remain as treasurer and secretary, respectively.
“I am proud to be leading this organization – it is such a hardworking team,” said Manning. “Every single individual (all are volunteers) on this committee puts so much time, effort and pride into their job – it is an honor to be working with this team to bring the festivities to our community.”
Manning owns Black Dog Communications, a marketing/communications consulting company, is Art Specialist for the City of Morgan Hill and is a graduate of Leadership Morgan Hill. She is on the Board of Directors of the Morgan Hill Community Foundation and is a past steering committee member of Leadership Morgan Hill.
Manning was recently honored as “Woman of the Year” by the Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce. She became chair of sales, marketing and publicity for IDI in 2002. Monique Dubois took over as sales chair in 2003, and Manning continued as marketing and publicity chair. IDI is currently recruiting for Marketing and Publicity team members.
Born and raised in Montreal, Manning studied art history, marketing and business administration. She lives with her husband, two dogs and a bird.
Roth graduated from Fresno State University with a major in business marketing and a minor in communication. He is assistant vice president and business development manager for South Valley National Bank and is class project director in Leadership Morgan Hill’s Class of 2004.
Roth has been chair of fundraising for IDI since 2002, a position taken over by Rich Gamboa. Roth lives in Morgan Hill with his wife and three children.
IDI is currently recruiting committee members. IDI meets on the first Wednesday of each month, at The Grange, 40 E. 4th St., Morgan Hill, at 7 p.m., from February through July.
Anyone interested in being a part of the team that makes Morgan Hill’s 4th of July festivities a reality should attend the next meeting or contact Daryl Manning at bl*****@***oo.com or at 891-1980.
