Palo Alto – Live Oak High’s Cobbie Jones took seventh place out of 194 runners competing in the Division I race at the Stanford Invite last Saturday, helping the Acorns to a 19th place finish as a team in the Girls’ Division I event.

Jones’ time of 19:34 was not only good enough for seventh overall, it was two seconds better than the ninth-place time posted by San Benito High’s Amanda Boyd, top finisher for the Haybalers with a time of 19:36, and a runner that Jones and the Acorns will see again when the two schools meet for a TCAL event on Oct. 17 in Morgan Hill.

Jones was joined in the top 50 by teammate Lisa Herrera, who ran a 20:27 to finish in 24th place. Maureen King’s time of 28:44 put her in 163rd place, followed directly by Joelle Jenkins in 164th with a time of 28:48.

On the boys’ side, the Acorns took home 26th place out of the 40 teams competing. Senior Andrew Taylor wrapped up the race in 116th place with a time of 18:29 while teammates Josh Levy and Eric Matsumoto came in 124th and 125th respectively at 18:33.
