John Kado, a longtime Gilroy resident, died at home in Elk Grove on Sunday, April 3, 2005, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on March 2, 1923, in San Juan Bautista and moved to Gilroy in 1947. He married Alice Fujimoto on July 3, 1949. He lived and farmed in Gilroy for more than 50 years. After a severe stroke in 1996, both he and his wife moved to Elk Grove in 1998. He was active in the Japanese-American Citizen’s League and in the local Buddhist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Alice Kado; children Leonard (Linda), Randolph (Laureen), Sherilyn Fry (Ian), Nora Matlen (Joe); 13 grandchildren; sister Elsie Konno (Kay); and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Viewing takes place from 9am-2pm, today, April 9, at South East Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary, Elk Grove. Buddhist funeral services take place at 2pm today.
