SAN JOSE — Event 3 of the Jenny’s Light Kids Triathlon Series was the biggest one yet, and seven Morgan Hill racers highlighted it with strong performances Sunday.

Clayton Sawyer, Emily Sorenson and Miles McGarvey led the group, placing third in their divisions at San Jose State University Aquatic Center. Sawyer’s time of 27 minutes, two seconds was good for bronze in boys 9-11 intermediates, and Sorenson (20:17) and McGarvey (16:25) rounded out the podium in girls 7-8 juniors and boys 5-6 super juniors, respectively.

Three locals finished behind Sawyer in 9-11 intermediates. Nate Webster (29:37) placed seventh; Matthew Milner (31:10) took ninth, and Dustin Hart (37:14) 13th. Trinity Richards (34:47) finished 13th on the girls’ side.

The event drew 80 entries, a record for the five-event series presented by South Valley Endurance. The next race is June 20, also at SJSU.

12-14 senior –- Timothy Winslow, Elk Grove, 30:58. 9-11 intermediate –- Luke Lenhart, Los Gatos, 25:45. 7-8 junior –- Gavin Frank-Mehrtens, Saratoga, 15:55. 5-6 super junior -– Sebastien Maza, Walnut Creek, 12:03.

GIRLS

12-14 senior –- Elisabeth Handy, El Dorado Hills, 33:43. 9-11 intermediate –- Meredith Corda, Danville, 25:34. 7-8 junior -– Brooke Andris, San Luis Obispo, 18:46. 5-6 super junior –- Piper Sophia, Livermore, 12:12.
