Red Phone, on Dunne Avenue between Peak and Del Monte avenues,
all the trees were cut down. Was it property owners or is the city
getting ready for the Santa Teresa extension? Just wondering what’s

“Red Phone, on Dunne Avenue between Peak and Del Monte avenues, all the trees were cut down. Was it property owners or is the city getting ready for the Santa Teresa extension? Just wondering what’s going on out there.”
Red Phone: Dear Just Wondering, Red Phone contacted Julie Behzad, a senior civil engineer in the public works department for the city back in late April for a similar question.
In short, about 70 trees were cut down to make room for the West Dunne Avenue street widening project, which will include sidewalks, not the Santa Teresa extension.
“Although the trees removed do provide a bare looking street, the West Dunne Safety Improvement Project does include the installation of approximately 50 new trees,” Behzad said. “City staff will look into additional project tree planting opportunities as we move along in the project.”
The project is scheduled to be completed within 12 to 14 months.
Good caller, hope that answers your question.
Thanks for funding Butterfield extension
“Red Phone, a big gold star to the Morgan Hill City Council for funding the Butterfield Boulevard extension. It’ll be a big help to those of us who live near Watsonville Road getting to and from the freeway. A big thank you, city council.”
Red Phone: Dear Thankful, Red Phone couldn’t agree more.
With the Butterfield Boulevard extension and the Santa Teresa extension, those who live on the west and south sides of the city, will find getting around much easier.
Consider this a big thanks to Morgan Hill City Council members. They read Red Phone.
