THANKS FOR THE GREAT TIME

“I would like to extend thanks to everyone that was involved in putting on the Taste of Morgan Hill. My entire family had such a good time when we visited. It’s nice to know that our community is animal friendly, too … many merchants had water dishes for the dogs that came by. Just wanted to say thanks for a great function!”

RED PHONE:

Expressing thanks and being grateful are wonderful attributes. You are actually thankful for a host of people who were involved in the tremendous effort of organizing and putting on the 17th annual Taste of Morgan Hill. This major fundraiser for the Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce went very well this year with between 40,000 and 50,000 people attending during the Sept. 23-24 weekend. That’s an increase over last year’s attendance.

When you consider there was a car show, live music, kids’ areas, food courts, a quilt show, vendors, volunteers and merchants, you can start to see why the Taste of Morgan Hill is such a huge effort and such a community-building event.

TORN UP STREET

“With all the construction that has been happening on Depot Street, I am wondering if there is still access to the transit parking lot next to the railroad tracks? Also, is the Farmers Market going to be open on the weekends during this construction?”

RED PHONE:

The Red Phone contacted Yat Cho, assistant engineer at the Morgan Hill Department of Public Works to answer your questions. He informs us that, at least, one driveway will remain open for access to the transit parking lot during construction. Sometimes, a machine may block the driveway temporarily in the course of the day, but please be patient … there’s not a lot of room for the workers and their equipment.

The city is installing a reinforced concrete pipe for drainage under the road, and tentative completion date for the project is mid-January of 2007.

The Farmers Market will be open for business as usual this weekend, and will be operating into November when they will close for the winter.

The Red Phone is keeping busy running down answers to your questions and comments. Keep those calls coming in! Contact Red Phone at (408) 779-4106, ext. 206, or e-mail re******@*************es.com.
