THE SKINNY: Don’t let the beauty fool you. This is the toughest par 3 on Gilroy Golf Course. The good news is, however, that the hole doesn’t play the entire 260 yards on the card. Take about 10 percent off the yardage for the elevation and you will be OK. Keep your shot to the left and you can get a favorable kick toward the green. A shot to the right and the out of bounds comes into play, and you may find your ball on Hecker Pass Highway. A shot doesn’t have to fly to the green when the fairway is firm because the ball will bounce on the downhill slope. However, during the winter months, your ball must fly to the green because there will be no bounce at the bottom of the hill. The green is pretty flat, true, and probably the second largest on the course.
