Morgan Hill – Three Hollister residents were arrested at a Morgan Hill motel Wednesday afternoon when Morgan Hill police officers found drugs and a gun in their possession.

Teresa C. Gonzales, 41, Felicia A. Ruiz, 35, and Antonio J. Corral, 27, were all booked into Santa Clara County Jail with no bail granted, according to Mogan Hill police Cmdr. David Swing.

Gonzales and Ruiz were arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of methamphetamine and for alleged felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm with altered identifying marks, possession of a firearm with the intent to commit a felony, giving false identification to peace officer, possession of a hypodermic needle and right to re-imprison parolee.

Corral was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of methamphetamine and for alleged felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm with altered identifying marks, possession of a firearm with the intent to commit a felony, giving false identification to peace officer and possession of a hypodermic needle.

Swing said Morgan Hill police Sgt. Dave Myers, Cpl. Ray Ramos and officers Kyle Christensen, Bill Norman and Steve Pennington found the three Hollister residents at the Budget Inn on Monterey Road after another guest reported a possible domestic disturbance.

When officers arrived, they found Corral and Gonzales outside their motel room. Corral gave a false name, and officers arrested him on suspicion of being under the influence, Swing said. A records check on Gonzales showed she was on parole, and the conditions of her parole allowed her room to be searched.

Ruiz, who was on parole for drug-related offenses, was found inside the room sitting on the bed. Ramos found a black nylon bag containing a loaded 9mm handgun with the serial numbers filed down to remove them. He also noticed a video surveillance system in the room as well as a police scanner.

According to Swing, officers also found 1.75 grams of methamphetamine and items associated with drug sales, including two scales and plastic baggies.

The motel room had been paid for in cash for a three-week stay, Swing said.

“The fact that they had paid for the room in advance, along with some of the other things officers found in the room, the scanner, the video surveillance system, would lead us to believe they were selling drugs out of the room,” he added.
