Hazel Ione Auchue, 87, of Morgan Hill, died at home in her sleep from complications of cancer Sunday, April 17, 2005.
She was born May 8, 1917, in Ogden, Utah. She and her family migrated to California by way of Alberta, Calgary, Canada, to San Francisco and Mountain View. She spent 77 of her 87 years in California, and the last four in Morgan Hill.
Her move to Morgan Hill filled her life with joy. She loved the green of winter and spring, and she loved the flowers and trees. Many complained of the heavy afternoon “breezes,” but she loved to sit and watch the trees sway in the afternoons. She loved her bingo games and those who frequently played.
Her family was an integral part of her life. As the family grew and established individual identities, she was the “glue” that held the family together, and made sure that the love and contact continued. She was a loving wife to two husbands, a fantastic mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her daughter Jeannette I. Pacchetti of Santa Rosa; son Eugene J. Pacchetti of Morgan Hill; stepdaughter Peggy Myers of Salinas; sister Lenora Ridenour of Forest Grove, Ore.; sister-in-law Myrtle Liversedge of Auburn, Wash.; grandchildren Laurel Ann Davis, Cynthia Marie Short, Gary Wayne Seavey Jr., Phillip Matthew Seavey and Jill Bohnen; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Torquato J. Pacchetti, and her second husband, Lavern F. Auchue.
Cremation was under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Interment services for immediate family only takes place Friday, April 29, at Alta Mesa Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be sent in Hazel’s name to the Cancer Foundation.
