GILROY — Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero, a two-time IBF champion and Gilroy native, will remain with Golden Boy Promotions after a nearly two-year legal battle with former promoter Goossen-Tutor.

In a press release sent out by a publicist of Guerrero, which contained information from an article by Dan Rafeal of ESPN.com, the two sides agreed on a financial settlement ending the dispute.

In September, the California Superior Court vacated a December 2008 ruling by the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC), which granted Guerrero his request to be cut loose from his contractual agreement with Goossen-Tutor.

The ruling was rendered invalid, forcing a second round of arbitration, which ended two weeks ago with the settlement.

Guerrero camp’s declined to comment.

Guerrero’s lawyer, Bruce Zabarauskas, said Monday night that the two groups involved parted ways “amicably.”
