As a retired police officer, from an agency in this county, the recent brandishing of replica guns by teens hit a nerve.
My agency responded, a few years ago, to a report of a man brandishing a handgun in a bar. On arrival he had moved across the street to another bar and did the same thing.
Two officers found the subject on the sidewalk outside the second bar. He turned with the gun pointed in the officers direction. He was shot multiple times and died.
It was later learned that the gun was a pellet gun made to look like a real handgun. It was also learned the deceased had a mental history. What a tragedy. How many victims did this senseless situation cause?
Thank you Morgan Hill PD for your fine work especially when some insist on doing such dumb things.
