Learn from those who walked the walk

Listen to your parents. Yes, you’re adults now, but young ones. Someone once said he was amazed at how much smarter his parents got between his 18th and 25th birthday. Old fogeys – and, we assure you, fogeyhood will come to you on fleeter wings than you can imagine – often have good advice to offer because they’ve made the mistakes they want you to avoid.
Enjoy every moment
Live your life to the fullest. What you do the next few years is incredibly important to your success.
It took a lot of hard work to get to here. Your reward? More hard work.
Now you will go to college, get a job, or perhaps join the Armed Forces. Either way, the real work begins now. And, as the days pass, they grow into weeks and months and years. You won’t believe how fast your 10-year reunion comes. You can’t stop the drumbeat of time. All you can do is make the very most of every day, every opportunity, every life lesson that comes your way. Do so.
Volunteer some of your time
Finally, listen up. Some advice from a few that have lived a little.

Someone once said, and we’re paraphrasing, “Find what it is you love to do, and you’ll never work a day in your life.” Well, the same holds true for getting involved in the community. If you love sports, volunteer with Little League. If you love reading, volunteer at the library. If you love animals, volunteer at an animal shelter – or locally at the Wildlife Education and Rehabilitation Center. What are you doing now that will make today and tomorrow better? No matter what you are passionate about, there’s a way to get involved and give back. That is exactly how the world gets to be a better place. It’s good for the community, but more importantly it’s good for you. And don’t forget one of the most important civic duties. Voting. Study the issues, learn the candidates and vote.
Are you listening?
