GREEN PHONE: The Green Phone agrees with Caller No. 1.

Sure, they just went through their first winless preseason in three decades.

Sure, their quarterbacks have started a combined three games and their career leader in receptions is Cedric Wilson. Sure, their secondary remains shaky and they were recently seen scouting local high schools to fill out their defensive line.

Whatever. We don’t want to hear it. We can assure you The Dispatch does not belong to that cynical media establishment.

We’re expecting the Niners to win AT LEAST three games.

Caller 2: Hi, I’m calling for Wes King. This is Heather at Dr. Park’s office. If you can give me a call ba-

GREEN PHONE: Green Phone does constantly complain of a ringing headache, but it’s way to stubborn to schedule a doctor’s appointment. We’ll pass along the message, though.

Wes, you out there, buddy?

CALLER 4: My wife and I we’re thinking about going to the Gilroy game Saturday at Gunn High, but neither one of us has ever been there before.

I think printing directions the day before every road game would be very helpful and a good thing for the newspaper to do.

Thanks.

GREEN PHONE: To help out our caller, we logged onto to the always-reliable Mapquest

According to the Web site, which is accurate at least 60 percent of the time, Palo Alto’s Gunn High is 45 or so miles away from Gilroy.

To get there, you will take 101 North (San Jose) for 18.9 miles and then take 85 North (Cupertino/Mountain View) for another 18.3 miles.

You will then merge onto 280 North (San Francisco), and after about a mile, merge onto Foothill Expressway West (Grant Road).

After six more miles, take a right on Arastradero Road and boom … you shall see the shining city upon a hill that is Gunn High School.

According to Mapquest, the mini-road trip should take approximately 47 minutes, give or take about a half-hour.

The exact time depends on both your departure location and date of birth.
