Lambda Alpha Epsilon recognized in criminal justice
Gilroy – Members of the Gavilan College chapter of Lambda Alpha Epsilon were recognized for their work at the American Criminal Justice Association conference staged in Long Beach last weekend. The students were honored for excelling in annual academic and police work competitions.
Neal Oppenheimer took home the most awards. The Gavilan student placed first in criminal law, handgun marksmanship and writing. Oppenheimer also won second place in police management and third place in both juvenile justice and corrections.
Janay Church placed second in juvenile justice.
A team, comprised of Gavilan College, Sacramento State University, and the Hanford Police Department, placed first in the crime scene investigations competition.
This year’s conference consisted of chapters from California, Nevada, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Hawaii and Alaska.
New students interested in careers in the criminal justice system are welcome to join Gavilan College’s administration of justice program.
