San Jose State assistant volleyball coach Stephanie Pascucci has been named head coach of the new women’s volleyball team at Gavilan College.

Pascucci, who has coached and taught kinesiology at San Jose State since 2003, will take on part-time coaching and faculty responsibilities at Gavilan in the fall.

The women’s volleyball season is set to start August 15.

“I’m really excited for the opportunity to coach at Gavilan,” Pascucci said in a Gavilan press release. “I can’t wait to get started.”

Pascucci is now faced with the challenge of recruiting and building the brand–new program.

“I’ll be looking for interested players, seeing what level they’re at to begin with, and setting goals for the years to come.”

Pascucci comes to Gavilan with extensive club volleyball coaching experience.

Since 2001, she has coached for the San Jose–based Club Yahoo! Volleyball Club.

Pascucci also has been involved with the Vision Volleyball Club in Los Gatos, the Cal Junior Volleyball Club in Norwalk and the Spartan Volleyball Club in San Jose.

As a player at SJSU, Pascucci earned first team All–WAC honors in 2002 and made the Western Athletic Conference All–Tournament team in 2001.

Pascucci graduated with a kinesiology degree with an emphasis in sports management. She also expects to complete her Master’s degree in sports management this spring.

Anyone interested in joining the Gavilan College women’s volleyball team should contact Pascucci at 848-4896.
