The annual Fourth of July run will kick off Independence Day festivities on July 4.
The run will kick off with a kids’ one-mile run at 7:45 a.m. and a 5K run/walk at 8 a.m. in celebration of the America’s independence.
The run/walk is part of the annual Freedom Fest activities in Morgan Hill.
Runners of all ages take part in the race with kids heading out in the mile race with parents running with strollers in the 5K with prizes available for age group and category placers.
Last year, the race set a record for runners participating with more than 800 runners up from more than 600 from the year before.
The run begins near the corner of West Dunne and Peak avenues and continues along the parade route, heading west on Dunne, then through downtown on Monterey and finally up Main Avenue to PA Walsh before turning on Peak Avenue to run the loop again.
Participants will conclude the race at Walsh.
The race will take place just prior to the Freedom Fest parade through downtown Morgan Hill.

Registration forms can be dropped off before 4 p.m. at Weston Mile Architects at 17500 Depot Street No. 120 until June 26.
You can also register on race day at the Morgan Hill City Hall Parking lot, 17575 Peak Ave. between 6:30 and 7:45 a.m. July 4. Organizers encourage those who plan to sign up day of to arrive early to assure they can take part.

Participants can also donate warm-up clothing they do not use anymore to Cecelia’s Closet and Food Pantry/The Edward “Boss” Prado Foundation, by placing the items in a barrel located at Freedom Run registration.
