Frank A. Barbosa, 79, died in Gilroy on April 22, 2005.

He worked many years as a tow truck driver and served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and was awarded the Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. Born in Los Angeles, he attended St. Mary’s Church in Gilroy where he lived for over 50 years. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion.

He is survived by his children and their spouses: Mary Helen Barbosa of Gilroy, Frank Martin Barbosa Jr. of Gilroy, Marshall Barbosa of Gilroy, Phyllis and Tito Hernandez of Gilroy, Daniel Barbosa of Gilroy and Corrine and Ignacio Arias of Hollister; brothers and sister John Barbosa of Santa Maria, Phillip Barbosa of Bakersfield and Linda Barbosa of Reno, Nev. He also is survived by 17 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ramona, who died in 1991, and his twin brother, Ray, died in November 2004.

Friends can pay their respects from noon until 9pm today, April, 26, at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home in Hollister. Vigil Service will be at 7pm

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am Wednesday, April 27, at Old Mission San Juan Bautista in San Juan Bautista. Friends can gather at the funeral home at 9:15am for a procession to the church.

Interment and graveside services will follow at San Juan District Cemetery with military rites being performed by the VFW from San Juan and Hollister.
