The foursomes of Mike Mifsud, Ed Wilson, Dick Reyes and Charlie Sanchez (net score 53, handicap 5) and Rob Alonso, Manny Gallardo, Tom Gallardo and Neil Grinager (net score 55, handicap 3) were the teams with the top net scores.

Advancing by gross score were the foursomes of Tom Moller, Mike O’Shea, Gary Rojas and Rob Trujillo (gross score 58, handicap 2) and Lloyd Hennessey, Shawn Hennessey, Dean Noland and Joe Pulford (gross 58, handicap 3).

The four teams will compete again on July 22 at Ridgemark Country Club in Hollister.

At that competition, the teams with the lowest net score and lowest gross score will advance on to the sectional championship on Aug. 29 at Elk Horn in Stockton.

At the sectional championships, the golfers compete for a spot in the national championship, which will take place at Grande Lakes Resort in Orlando, Fla. from Oct. 13-16.

The Buick Scramble is in its third decade as the world’s largest amateur golf tournament.
