Dear Editor,

As an officer of the Board of the Citizens for a Civic Center Library (CCCL) which gathered mor than 1,000 signatures in two weeks in support of keeping our library in its present location in August, we resent the fact that our petition is being used against Mayor Dennis Kennedy.

Kennedy has listened to the community and has not wavered in his unconditional promise to start the construction of library in 2005 with the $17 million allocated by the city.

We find it less than amusing and ironic that Kennedy’s mayoral opponent continues to use our petition as an example of a need for new leadership when Kennedy championed our position the most, and in our opinion, his opponent the least.

We have listened and spoken to both men and we feel that our library has Mayor Kennedy’s highest priority and urge all who want a new library now vote to re-elect Kennedy.
