Pee Wee Division

Paced by running back Damon Rodriguez and a swarming defense, the Morgan Hill Pee Wee team defeated the visiting Coyote Creek Wildcats 16-6 Saturday at the Morgan Hill Sports Complex.

The Raiders got on the scoreboard first with two quick touchdowns. Scoring from Rodriguez on a five-yard run and an 18-yard swing pass from quarterback Jonathan Singleton to halfback Ethan Crawford. Ryan Payne converted on both point afters.

Coyote Creek tried to mount a comeback but were continuously thwarted by a tenacious defense led by Jake Saltonstal, Angel Zamaripa, Alec Petrosky, Alec Havstad and Payne. The Wildcats scored a late touchdown but couldn’t get their offense on track the rest of the afternoon.

Next week the Pee Wees travel to Almaden for a 1 p.m. game Sunday.

Junior Midget

Completing the long day of football at the Morgan Hill Sports Complex, the Junior Midgets defeated Coyote Creek 24-16. In the win, the Raiders amassed 303 total yards. They were led by Jacob Ryder’s three touchdowns and 188 rushing yards. Bailey Schroeder added three point afters to complete the scoring.

Spearheading the defensive effort was Isaiah Barajas, who recovered a fumble, and Schroeder, who recorded an interception. Nathan Camacho, Cade Hall and Angelo Knight combined to lead the team in tackles, stopping any Wildcat rally.

Next Sunday, the Junior Midgets travel to Almaden for a 3 p.m. contest.

Junior Pee Wee

Visting Coyote Creek jumped out to an early 12-0 lead over Morgan Hill and never looked back en route to a 24-0 victory Saturday. The Wildcats scored on their first possession and continued to pound out yards throughout the first half.

Despite the tenacity of running back Aizon Henry, the Raiders offense never got on track and couldn’t muster an attack all afternoon.

Both the offense and defense worked hard in the loss. The team is already looking forward to Sunday’s game at Almaden at 1 p.m.

Tiny Mites (Black)

One touchdown is all the Tiny Mite Black team could put on the board Saturday, but it stood up a 6-0 over Coyote Creek. The only score came on a one-yard quarterback keeper by Jaden Berjarano. DJ Buenostro ran for 95 yards on the day, keeping the Wildcat defense on the field for most of the game.

Bryce Luna led the defense effort, recording with five tackles to preserve the shutout.

Looking to add another shutout, the Tiny Mites play Sunday in Almaden.

Tiny Mites (Silver)

Behind Issac Arreallno’s four touchdowns, the Tiny Mites Silver team rolled to 30-12 victory over Watsonville, in a game which the Raiders led 18-0 at halftime.

Justus Pacheco rounded out the scoring for Morgan Hill by adding a touchdown late in the game. Jade Fraustro led the defensive front with six tackles on the day. He was complimented in his efforts by Blaine Barnes and Seth Hernsrdt, who helped put a halt to Watsonville’s running game.

The season continues Sunday.

Mighty Mites

In the Mighty Mite Division, the visiting Wildcats handed the Raiders a 12-0 defeat, negating the hard hitting and explosive running of Tyler Douglas.

Only down by six at the half, the offense put forth a gallant effort in the second half but they couldn’t gain any momentum to generate a score. The coaching staff was proud of the work ethic by both the offense and defense, even though the effort resulted in a loss.

Next up, the Raiders travel to Almaden for an 11 a.m. start Sunday at Pioneer High School.
