Pee Wee

Behind an offensive explosion and the usual stingy defense, the Pee Wee Raiders rolled to their fourth-consecutive victor beating East Bay West 30-0 Saturday at the Morgan Hill Sports Complex.

Jonathan Singleton got the Raiders on the scoreboard first with a quarterback sneak. Ryan Payne added the point after. Cole Davis tallied a touchdown on a sweep and Ethan Crawford scored two more – once on a pass reception from Singleton and another on a power play run – to build the Morgan Hill lead.

Quarterback Cory Taylor completed 2-of-4 passes on the day to Michael Corona and Tommy Dunham as the offense continued to pile on the yardage.

For the fourth-straight week the defense didn’t allow a point thanks to Cainan Holderfield and Rusty Lucas, who each recorded timely sacks. Nick Hernandez came up with the defensive play of the day when he sacked the quarterback, forcing the fumble that he recovered to stop another East Bay drive.

Going on the road this Saturday, the Pee Wee’s will face a stiff test when they square off against the Redwood City 49ers at Woodside High. Game time is 1 p.m.

Junior Midgets

Morgan Hill’s Junior Midget Raiders capped off a long day of football, beating East Bay West 41-20 at the Morgan Hill Sports Complex.

The usual combination of Jacob Ryder and Bailey Schroeder provided the scoring punch. Ryder scored four touchdowns and Schroeder contributed a field goal and four point after. Isaiah Fernandez completed the scoring with a touchdown.

In dismantling the East Bay West defense, the Junior Midgets ran for 191 total yards and threw for 24 yards in the air. Besides Ryder’s 85 rushing yards, Anthony Martinez ran for 43 yards, Fernandez for 27 yards and Eric Payne had 19 yards.

East Bay West managed 20 points, but an interception from Schroeder, a fumble recovery by Nathan Camacho and five sacks, prevented any more damage.

The Junior Midgets will take to the road Saturday to face the Redwood City 49ers at Woodside High School. Gametime is 5 p.m.
