SEMIPRO FOOTBALL: ’Stormers win 22-21 to climb above .500

Eagles have returned to form; Bruins are coming off first league
win
Live Oak (4-2, 2-1) at No. 9 Oak Grove (4-2, 2-1)

As the only Division III team in the Mount Hamilton Division, Live Oak can make a case for being the underdog in every league game.

Friday will be no different. The Acorns visit ninth-ranked Oak Grove in a 7 p.m. showdown that will likely eliminate one of the teams from league-championship contention.

Live Oak is gearing up to make a run at a section title, and the Acorns need to play mistake-free now.

The Eagles have rekindled their explosiveness this fall behind a massive front five and a new crop of play-makers.

Sobrato (3-3, 1-2) vs. Branham (1-5, 1-2)

The name Branham doesn’t exactly strike fear into the heart of Sobrato, but the Bulldogs have no reason to overlook Friday’s 7 p.m. home game for next week’s tilt at Willow Glen.

Like Sobrato, the balanced Bruins snapped an 0-2 start in the Santa Teresa Division with a convincing win last week over Evergreen Valley. Before that, Branham fell badly at Willow Glen and lost to Lincoln by less than Sobrato did.

With the Rams on deck and Westmont coming up, this is a must-win for the Bulldogs.
