Originating from Los Angeles, FOOD RULES is an off-the-wall cooking show that takes the conventional format of cooking shows and turns it inside out. TV Host Tom Riehl and an assortment of odd friends and celebrity guests take viewers on “a wacky journey through the kitchen as he prepares and cooks a variety of familiar and not so familiar recipes with the greatest of unease,” the show’s producers claim.
The entertainment show, from Eclipse Magazine and dubbed EMTV, evolved from a web site for entertainment news into a TV program with a similar theme. Instead of “news casters,” EMTV approaches entertainment stories with a diverse group of “real people” who cover movies, video games, and music. The show is designed to appeal to educated young viewers.
Also added recently is “Democracy Now!,” a daily news and talk show that examines current events in an alternative way.
The two new shows air for the first time on Sunday, Nov. 16, starting at 8 p.m. “Democracy Now!” plays at 9 p.m. weekdays. All programs on the channel are listed in the Times on Tuesdays, and on the channel’s web site, www.mhat.tv/
